The Allegheny-Kiski Health Foundation has committed approximately $1,000,000 to Alle-Kiski Medical Center. 

Hospital Support

The Foundation continues to support patient focused programs of the AKMC.  Although hospital support is not limited to any one organization, the AKH Foundation is committed to continuing its support of AKMC.  Following is a sample of recent projects.

  • In October 2006 , Allegheny-Kiski Health Foundation provided $70,000 to the Alle-Kiski Medical Center for the purchase of a state-of-the-art mammography screening unit at Citizen Ambulatory Care Center in New Kensington.
  • In March 2005, Allegheny-Kiski Health Foundation provided the funding for renovations of the ICU/CCU Conference Room at the Alle-Kiski Medical Center.
  • Most recently, with a matching grant from the AVH Auxiliary, The Allegheny-Kiski Health Foundation provided funding for renovations of a medical/surgical floor at Alle-Kiski Medical Center .

 

  • The Laboratory Department at Alle-Kiski Medical center recently received two Centrifuges.

 

  • In November 2003, Allegheny-Kiski Health Foundation provided funding for an internet based teleradiology program that transmits x-rays via the internet allowing physicians all over the world to view x-rays in minutes.

 

  • Through the memorial donor program, the Dialysis Clinic in Natrona Heights was provided with a Blanket Warmer for dialysis patients.

 

  • In June 2003, the Allegheny-Kiski Health Foundation purchased an Endoscope and Gastroscope for the Endoscopy Department at Alle-Kiski Medical Center , in collaboration with the AVH Auxiliary Coffee Shop Steering Committee.

 

  • A Fetal Doppler was purchased with funds received in memory of Kathleen Cinpinski, an Emergency Room Nurse at Alle-Kiski Medical Center .

 

  • Grants were issued to Alle-Kiski Medical Center-AVH employees to attend educational conferences, such as the American College of Clinical Pharmacy Conference and the Anti-Coagulation Conference for pharmacy technicians and the American Association of Diabetes Educators Annual Conference.

 

  • Allegheny-Kiski Health Foundation supports the AVH Auxiliary in their fundraising efforts that include a Christmas tree raffle, card party and more.

 

  • Other projects supported by the Foundation in the past include: Advanced Cardiovascular Lab equipment, a Biphasic Defibrillator, lifeline units and software for the Prioritycare Lifeline program, a mobile blood donor system, ultrasound bladder scanner, Nu-Step stepper and seated stepper for Cardiac Rehab patients and many more.

 

  • The Allegheny-Kiski Health Foundation is also proud to support the efforts of the AK PULSER emergency response unit. In 2001, funding was provided towards the purchase of a new emergency response vehicle. The Foundation continues to support PULSER today by dedicating $25,000 from the 2004 Dinner Gala proceeds towards the purchase of a second emergency response vehicle.
  • A Diabetic Education Program, hosted by the AKH Foundation, reached many diabetic patients in the valley.

 

  • In conjunction with the AVH Auxiliary, the AKH Foundation provided refreshments and prizes for AKMC Employee and Physician Days.

 

  • The Foundation, in partnership with the Community Advisory Board, provided funding for legal and advisory fees for the former Allegheny Valley Hospital to investigate regaining its independence.

 

  • Since 1998, the Foundation has supported the Oncology Department's team participation in the American Cancer Society's "Relay for Life".
