 HESA Scholarship

In an effort to bolster the dwindling ranks of young volunteer firefighters in our local communities and throughout Western Pennsylvania, the Highlands Emergency Services Alliance (HESA) successfully implemented a firefighting/emergency services training program in coordination with Highlands High School and the Allegheny County Fire Academy during regular school hours. The 36-week HESA curriculum is based on the Delmar Essentials of Firefighting Course and is the first in the state and possibly the nation. The HESA Scholarship Program recognizes up to two students annually, who have completed the HESA curriculum and are graduating seniors who plan on further their education after high school.

The value of the award fluctuates annually, but is expected to be in the $500 to $1,000 range.
